The relationship category is currently being re-worked! Most likely this post will instead be moved into a section on Fleshing out the background on the character, with minor changes to remove references to the relationships category. So stay tuned for the changes.

Distinctions

Distinctions are what set your character apart from everyone else. There are two that every character starts with: The High Concept, and the trouble. Through the Priority System, the character has a chance to get up to 3 extra Distinctions.

Faction Affiliation

Within Border itself, there are 3 factions that form the political backbone of the organization. The three factions are the Tamakoma Branch Faction, the Shinoda Faction, and the Kido Faction. According to the Border Briefing file, there is another unaffiliated faction called the Freedom Faction, with no ties or political swing. Building the Dice Pool

All the actions in The World Trigger RPG use a dice pool mechanic to determine success or failure. There are two different types of actions that require the use of dice tests, which are represented by two different modes that the game happens in.

Personality Traits

The personality traits used in Border Agent mode are influenced by the OCEAN model put forth by psychologists. The names of the traits themselves are Intellect, Dependability, Assertiveness, Sensitivity, and Confidence. The Acronym OCEAN stands for Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neurotic-ism. The five traits all correlate to one of them.
