Relationships, part 2

This is a new way of handling the relationship traits.

Every character at the start of the game has 5 types of relationships as it pertains to their association with Border. They can spend a total of 8 points on these relationships. Each point spent represents a raise in the dice step. Experience points must be spent to raise the dice step for the relationship types after character creation.

Points spent:

  • 0 points = d4
  • 1 point = d6
  • 2 points = d8
  • 3 points = d10
  • 4 points = d12

The Relationship Types: This describes what the person named is to the character.

  • Authority: This represents how the character interacts with figures of authority, and how they interact with others if they are the figure of authority.
  • Mentor: This represents how influential a mentor is when interacting with the character. If the character is the mentor, this represents how influential they are to who they are mentoring.
  • Friend: This represents how important friends are to you, and how important your frienship with someone else is to you.
  • Rival:This represents your ability to influence rivals, and your rivals ability to influence you.
  • Romantic: This represents how much influence you have over any love interests, it also represents how important they are to you.

When performing a social interaction, the character picks the die for the faction of the person he is talking to, the personality trait he is using, the talent he is using, and the type of relationship with the person he is interacting with to build up the dice pool.
