The Parameters are borrowed directly from the World Trigger Border Briefing File. Only four of these will be used for building the Dice Pool up: Command, Defense, Mobility, and Skill. The other Parameters each serve their own unique functions: Attack, Range, Special Tactics, and Trion.

Main Parameters

When creating a character, Five parameters are determined by allocating parameter points from the Priority System at character creation. These five parameters are the following:

  • Command: The ability to assess the situation and lead the squads. Also the ability to impact or influence a battle indirectly.
  • Defense: The ability of personal defense in mitigating damage, evasion, enemy attack countermeasure, and the precision & timing related aspects of it.
  • Mobility: Speed of movement, nimbleness, fine motor control of physical bodies as well as trion ability, and positioning tactics.
  • Skill: The accuracy and precision of attacks.
  • Trion: Level of Trion Ability.

The point rating of the Parameter affects the strength of the die that can be added to the dice pool during Trigger On! mode (with the exception of Trion). For Command, Defense, Mobility and Skill, consult the following table:

Parameter Rating / Dice assignment
1 / d4
2 / d4
3 / d6
4 / d6
5 / d6
6 / d8
7 / d8
8 / d8
9 / d10
10 / d10
11 / d10
12+ / d12

Secondary Parameters

The rest of the parameters are determined in another way, each with their own effects and functions.

Attack is the Ability to inflict damage on opponents, and is Semi-controlled by trion ability, and also controlled by the precision of attacks & the power of triggers used. This rating is determined by taking the average of the Trion and Skill Parameters. At C rank, no bonus is given by the trigger used. The individuals skill with the trigger in question gives +1 to attack for each rank from Skilled and above.

The main function of Attack is for calculating damage. The attack parameter, plus the Trigger’s base damage, plus the characters skill die with the trigger determines the total damage done. For Example, A character with an 8 attack, using an Egret with a skill level of Skilled would do 8 + 8 + 1d8 in damage per attack.

Range is determined by the trigger used. Individual skill with a trigger can provide a bonus to this rating. The higher the rating, the further away an opponent can be for an action test made against them.

Special Tactics has a parameter rating, but it is determined by the number of Special Tactics associated with Triggers and their skill level. A more in Depth discussion and examples will be provided in the section on Triggers.

Trion

The Trion parameter is a special parameter. It determines the amount of Trion reserves the character has available to draw on. This is represented by a “spell point” style system with a cubic centimeter rating representing the volume of the Trion Cube. Also a minimum rating of 7 in Trion is required for the manifestation of any sort of side effect (see Distinctions).

To create a trigger in Trigger On! mode, the volume of the trigger created is expended from this reserve. Some option Triggers like Bagworm and Chameleon have a continuous drain on the Trion reserve, while others like spider use very little of this reserve. See Triggers for the individual cost.

  1. Hello, I am currently trying to host a D&D session themed around Rank Wars and through and through, this site is insanely helpful. Though I’m sure you are aware there are unfortunately some holes in bits of information. So one question I had is regarding the “command” parameter. The way I think of it is like Osamu with the wire trigger. doesn’t exactly improve attack, defense, or other stats, but lets the user take CONTROL of certain situations depending on their trigger load out and Command stat level. where in Osamu’s case, he put everything he had into it.
